For me there are a lot of ups and downs in a pregnancy. Three days stand out in my mind as the obvious most exciting ones though. There is the day you find out that you are pregnant. Then there is the birth of course. My first three have never disappointed in that area. My kids seem to want to come into this world with no warning at all and then BANG! I'm here! I was actually in a state a shock the last time when they took my 5 lb son away to the NICU and I didn't get to see him for hours and I swear the next thing that entered the door was some lady asking me if I was ready for my meat loaf....I just sat and looked at her, I was definitely in shock.
The other day that is my favorite during a pregnancy is the day that we find out if it is a boy or girl. I know some people choose not to find out. I on the other hand can't seem to wrap my brain around a baby unless I know what it is. I don't want to buy anything..I don't want to think of names until I know this fact. The last three times we have gone in for an ultrasound, it has always been 100% that I was having a boy. I like 100%.
Yesterday we had our big day. We decided to have all three boys come with us. I know we are crazy but we wanted them to see the baby. Everything looked healthy and measured great. We all sat there with anticipation of finally having the question answered. That's when I heard the dreaded words...."well..the baby has it's legs crossed pretty tightly." UGH!!! She tried for quite a while and I even offered to get up and do jumping jacks if she thought it would help. Finally she said "well I think I'm about 97% sure it's a girl". Um where did she get that number and we did see some legs that didn't "seem" to have anything in the middle but I like knowing the facts so we weren't impressed. I thought that maybe I was alone in my desire to know for sure until my husband said over dinner "I wonder how much it would cost to get one of those 3D ultrasounds". Ahh, he wants to know too!
So if there is anyone out there that happens to be like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes who purchased an ultrasound machine for their home, just let me know and I will come running over to your house!! Well...i guess not running more like waddling over to your house.
I know I shouldn't complain. 97% sounds pretty good but maybe you had to be there. She wasn't very convincing. Maybe it was a whole family of boys staring at her that made her think that she better just say she thinks it could be a girl. I did check the Chinese Pregnancy Calendar that some friends swear by and that said it would be a girl.
97% sure..hmmmmm
So here's my question...how many of you have ever had an ultrasound that wasn't sure turn out the way they said it would...and how many of you were surprised?
