C turned five this past weekend! He has wanted this bad for quite some time. I must have been promising him all kinds of things would happened once he was five because he has been talking about this forever.
I have to say his birthday fell on a very busy week for us. From Wednesday-Sunday we had Stake Temple Day, a 2 hour arm cast removal, three basketball practices, four visiting teaching visits, one chuck e. cheese birthday party (that may have put me over the edge!), three basketball games, home show at the expo center (k's good friend had a booth there and we helped sell kitchen cabinets), a Blue and Gold Banquet where we are proud parents when T was awarded his Webelos and his Compass Points awards but I'm also a leader so I had to plan skits, food, get boys to bring items for brag table and all kinds of things. K is the bishopric leader over scouts so he had other responsibilities too...so not exactly relaxing evening!, one ward conference and then lastly a lovely birthday dinner for 12 with family who live close by. Needless to say when I looked on the calendar I was excited for my sweet boy to reach his goal of five but I was dreading the actually caring out of all these activities because I knew they would be fun...but exhausting too. We survived and C definitely looks older now. I think he grew an inch last night!
I kept telling myself to stop wishing the weekend away and try and take in the moment and excitement for C. As we were sitting in church, he told me that sitting quietly in church was not a fun birthday activity, I quietly whispered in his ear "you have a birthday shout hurray..." He got a big smile on his face and quietly finished the song for me. I think it's those precious moments of taking them into your arms and letting them know how grateful you are to have them in your life that mean the most.
We love you big guy!! Happy 5th birthday C!
