The Big Five

Five great things about my son H.....

1) He is a deep thinker. When he learns things at school and church he analyzes them for a long time until he seems okay with what they told him. His dad is a deep thinker too...must get it from him.

2) He is my tigger. ALWAYS bouncing everywhere he goes. He is super skinny and maybe that is because he is always on the go. Most nights in our house you will hear " H, get off the couch,...H get off the counter,...H get off the chair...stop jumping on the furniture!!"

3) He loves his brothers. He is right in the middle of his brothers and looks up to the oldest and helps take care of the little one. He is a great kid to have around.

4) He can write his name perfectly but he can also write his name completely mirror image perfectly...I have no idea how he does this.

5) He is my lefty. He writes with his left hand. He kicks, throws, hits all with his left hand. He seems to see the world from the other side sometimes too...keeps it interesting around here!!!

So he just had his 5th birthday party. The 5th is a big one where they get to have a real party. We decided to have it on Friday night and amazingly all his friends could come (that meant 10 boys in my house including my 7 and 2 year old) Let's just say this is a whole lot of running around and yelling. We played some games, ate pizza, watermelon, cake and icecream, opened presents and hit the crap out of a shark pinata. The party was only 1 1/2 hours but that was enough to last me for years. H had a great time and is still walking around with a smile on his face! So here's to you H! Happy 5th Birthday big guy!!!

The Terrible Twos

My youngest son was born early...about 6 1/2 weeks early which put him in the NICU for a little bit but other than that he has been a pretty healthy normal guy. He has been my absolute best sleeper taking 3 to 4 hour naps a day and sleeping 12 to 14 hours at night. He also never wakes up crying. He usually plays in his crib until I go and get him or sometimes he will say "mama" but that is about it. I know...not normal! My other two boys didn't do this so I know how rare it is. I need to attempt to take him out of the crib soon but I like my sleep and quiet time during the afternoon so I'm dragging my feet on that one.

Last week would have been his real birthday had he been born when he was supposed to. Almost to the day, he turned into a real two year old!! He is usually found climbing the kitchen pantry like a ladder. Yesterday he climbed it, got out the box of Cream of Wheat, got a pan and dumped most of the box into the pan and on the floor....all right before we had to walk out the door for the day.

This is the picture of him in time out....at least for two minutes. Poor little guy two is hard on everybody!

Spring Blahs

Okay...I know I know it's been way too long since my last post. I have to admit I have made attempts at starting some several times only to become so bored with my own post, that I erased it and turned off the computer. I believe I have a bad case of the spring blahs. Now this is quite unusual since it's usually the winter blahs that effect most of us. However, this past winter season wasn't even really a winter season (it only really snowed once) and so the weather has just been mostly grey and cold since November. It's now April and this weather pattern has continued to be the norm around here with occasional sunny nice days. This would be the cause of my spring blahs!

My family actually has a lot going on but I continue to just be bored with life...busy...but bored. I want some change. I want some sun. I want some vacation away from life. I want some fun plans...lots of fun plans to look forward too.

I know I could be in a lot worse shape. There are many in need right now and I have a lot to be thankful for. I shouldn't complain about being bored or about the weather.

And yet....I'm still bored.

How does the song go...."The sun will come out tomorrow..."...well hey look at that the sun just came out. Things are looking up all ready!

Tomorrow is my son's 5th birthday so some fun pictures are on the way!
