Halloween Fun

I'm not a huge fan of this holiday. I get into Christmas way more. In fact, isn't it about time to get those Christmas decorations up?....kidding!

We did have some fun last night carving our pumpkin, trying on costumes and celebrating my husband's birthday. Our ward's trunk or treat usually falls right on his birthday but this year it was scheduled a day later so we actually got to just enjoy being a family and eating my husband's favorite foods. Homemade macaroni and cheese, kielbasa sausage, and pumpkin pie. Yum Yum!! After presents we decided it was time to carve the big pumpkin and paint the little ones. My husband is way too good at this whole carving thing so I leave it up to him. Here's some pictures of our night.

Happy Halloween!

T's Baptism

Last weekend was my T's baptism. I have to tell you that we spent months planning out the details. At the beginning of the year our stake has a little "Get Ready to be baptized" get together for all the soon to be 8 year olds and their families. That was in January and now 10 months later T finally got his turn. He was so excited and ready. We planned out the programs months in advance and since it was only T getting baptized, all the family got to take part. My mother in law gave the talk on baptism and my mom gave a talk on the Holy Ghost. Both did wonderful. Thanks guys!! All three of my sister-in-laws sang a song together called "If the Saviour Stood Beside Me" and I cried through the whole thing.

The funny thing is, I had a VERY stressful week. My to do list for every day leading up to Saturday was very long and exhausting. I didn't want any surprises so I tried to plan everything out. I did the invites, the programs, most of the food, I went to the church on Friday and set up the chairs in the RS room, set up the YW room for refreshments, cut up all the food and got it ready and even put little signs on the doors asking that everything be left undisturbed. I was almost manic about everything. I also had some family come and stay with us and I tried to make sure their rooms were totally ready for their arrivals including beds made, floors cleaned, and bath towels left on the beds. I think I went shopping 3 or 4 times trying to make sure we had enough food in the house. I know I'm nuts! Anyway....through all of this I kept trying to remind myself that I was doing all this preparation now so we could really focus on the baptism when Saturday came.

The day came and everything went so smoothly. All was set for the baptism to start. I decided we should take a moment and take some pictures of my husband and T in white. I went to take the picture and looked through the lens and burst into tears and I mean burst!! I was absolutely fine two seconds before and as soon as I saw that picture and really focused in on why we were there I couldn't stop crying. I cried pretty much through the whole thing. It was a great day and I'm so proud of him. I'm so thankful to all that could come and support our family. I know a lot of you have already had baptisms and it's nothing too new for you but for us it was our first and it will definitely be my favorite day for a long time.

Congrats T!!! We are so proud of you!!

Am I wrong?

Okay. I lead a workout group three days a week at my church gym. We do it from 9:15a-10:15a MWF. It has been on the schedule now since last September. We have a pretty good group that comes regularly and the kids just play around us so it ends up being a workout for us and a play group for the kids. We have members and even nonmembers of my church that come. Usually if anyone has anything they need to do in the gym, they call the building coordinator and he then calls me to see if we can move to another room. For the most part it has worked out great.

This morning a lady I didn't know came walking in with some artificial trees and announced that she was there to decorate for a wedding. I mentioned that we had the gym until 10:15 but she was welcomed to start on the other side of the gym if she wanted. She seemed fine with that and went to work. 10 minutes pass by and more and more people are coming to decorate. We decide to close one of the dividers so our kids don't mess up any of their stuff thinking that was pretty nice of us. We were even watching one of the kids of the decorators because she saw how much fun we were having. It's about 9:50am when another lady comes in. She looks at us, comes storming in and stands in front of all of us and tells us we have got to stop cause their wedding should take precedence.

This is where it got a little ugly because I didn't just stop the group and agree. I said I thought we had been more then accommodating to their group. We had the gym for that time on the calendar and if she had gone ahead and called in advance like you are supposed to then we wouldn't have had that problem. I felt like I have a group of women who change their schedules to come and do this and we shouldn't get kicked out every time someone wants to come and decorate. We only take an hour and we try and let the people even if they didn't call ahead to work around us.

This happened a couple times last year as groups came assuming that if they had a code to the building that they could come in anytime. Everyone has worked with us and some have even apologized and came back a little later when we were done.

I guess I'm wondering if I did the right thing. We have even canceled before when the coordinator has called and mentioned people needed the building. I just don't like doing it on the spot and especially when I feel like I'm being yelled at in front of a whole group.

Not fun...she ruined my workout!

Oh Wow...I found it

So my sister suggested using Goggle to find my new alarm clock and I actually did this and there is such a thing. I was actually joking cause I didn't think it existed but maybe I really need to buy this. You can find it at www.gadgetshack.com and it's called a sunrise alarm clock. Oh yea...I have got to get this!

Fall is coming....

I love the fall. I love most everything about it. I love the leaves changing in this area. I love going on rides just to see the leaves on a sunny day and going to pick apples. We have a great pumpkin patch place that has great hay rides and slides for everyone. I like the fresh cool weather that somehow makes me feel more alive.

The only problem I have with fall is what it means. It means winter is coming. It means the sun is coming up later and going down sooner. I do not like this. It completely depresses me every time. I hate that my husband now comes home in darkness which somehow makes me feel like we missed some time with him. Also, during the warmer months when it's time to wake up, the sun is pretty much already waking me up. I love that. I love feeling like it's time to get up because the sun is ready for me and it makes me feel like I somehow have slept enough.

Now go into fall and winter and the sun doesn't rise until around 8am. The sun is telling me that I should not be up until this time. My kids even sleep later which I love. I absolutely hate waking up sleeping children. It is wrong I tell you...very very wrong.

So this is what I'm in search of. Some type of light that I can plug in my bedroom that will be attached to an alarm clock that will make the light slowly, ever so slowly come on in my room just like the sun does. When I asked some friends if they had ever heard of such a thing I got some crazy looks. I will probably never find such a thing but I'm thinking I would be so much happier in the morning to wake up like this then the normal alarm clock noise in darkness.

Anyone out there have any ideas on this. Remember...fall is coming...help!!
